| ADHA Announces Recipient of
2006 Distinguished Service Award
Chicago—August 1, 2006—The
American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) has named Sherri
L. Meyers, RDH, MS, of Wind Gap, Pa., as a recipient of the 2006
ADHA Distinguished Service Award.
The award recognizes outstanding achievement
and dedication to the profession of dental hygiene.
Meyers received her associate of applied
science degree in dental hygiene from Northampton Community College
in Bethlehem, Pa., graduated Summa Cum Laude with her bachelor’s
degree from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, and received
her master’s degree from the University of Maryland in Baltimore.
She is now a professor at Northampton Community College while also
working part time as a clinical dental hygienist.
Meyers was honored during the opening ceremonies
at ADHA’s 83rd annual session in Orlando, Fla., on June 24.
ADHA is the largest national organization
representing the professional interests of more than 120,000 dental
hygienists across the country. Dental hygienists are preventive
oral health professionals, licensed in dental hygiene, who provide
educational, clinical and therapeutic services that support total
health through the promotion of optimal oral health. For more information
