ADHA Announces Recipient of 2011 ADHA/Procter & Gamble Dental Hygiene Educator of the Year Award—Dani Lynne Carroll, RDH, BA, MA
CHICAGO, July 6, 2011—The American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) has named Dani Lynne Carroll, RDH, BA, MA of La Mirada, Calif., as the recipient of ADHA/Procter & Gamble Dental Hygiene Educator of the Year Award. She was honored during the Plenary Session at ADHA’s 88th Annual Session in Nashville, Tenn. on June 18.
Carroll earned her associate of arts degree in Dental Hygiene from Cerritos College (CC) in 1983. After graduating, she was invited by her former instructors to teach continuing education courses at UCLA, and soon after, was asked to join the faculty at CC as a part-time clinical instructor. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Education from California State University, Long Beach in 1991 and 1994 respectively. In 2002, she was hired as a full-time instructor in the dental hygiene department at CC.
Carroll serves as an advisor for the Student American Dental Hygiene Association at CC, where she is known for her innovative teaching style and dedication to students’ growth and success. She received the Outstanding Faculty Award from CC in 2006 and 2008. She describes her involvement with students’ success and development as her biggest reward.
This award recognizes excellence in teaching, mentoring and devotion to student achievement.
