| ADHA Announces Recipient of 2010 Irene Newman Award
CHICAGO, July 1—The American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) has named Lillian J. Caperila, RDH, Med, of Schwenksville, Pa., as the recipient of the Irene Newman Award. She was honored during the Saturday Plenary Session and Awards Presentation at ADHA’s 87th Annual Session in Las Vegas on June 26.
Caperila obtained her associate degree in dental hygiene from Montgomery County Community College in 1980 in Pennsylvania and went on to receive her bachelor’s in dental hygiene education at Thomas Jefferson University and master’s degree in education at Penn State University. She is currently a professional educator and trainer at Premier Dental Products Company in Plymouth Meeting, Pa., and has provided dental seminars at professional conferences in Japan, Poland and South Africa.
Sponsored by Colgate, this award recognizes a current ADHA member who has been involved with ADHA for at least 15 years and who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in advancing the art and science of dental hygiene. The recipient participated within her community or social service organization and was nominated by an active ADHA member.
