ADHA Announces Recipient of 2010
Student Member Community Service Award

CHICAGO, July 1—The American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) has named University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry/Southern Oklahoma Technology Center Dental Hygiene Distance Education Program as one of three recipients of the Student Member Community Service Award. It was honored during the Saturday Plenary Session and Awards Presentation at ADHA’s 87th Annual Session in Las Vegas on June 26.

The program is being honored for its partnership with the Oklahoma Dental Foundation Mobile Dental Van. The OU/SOTC dental hygiene program has had 100 percent student and faculty membership in ADHA from 2004-2010.

Sponsored by Tom’s of Maine, this award recognizes outstanding student chapters of ADHA that have made a significant contribution to the community. At least 90 percent of an institution’s dental hygiene class must be student members of ADHA for the chapter to be eligible for consideration.

ADHA is the largest national organization representing the professional interests of more than 150,000 dental hygienists across the country. Dental hygienists are preventive oral health professionals, licensed in dental hygiene, who provide educational, clinical and therapeutic services that support total health through the promotion of optimal oral health.
