American Dental Hygienists’ Association
Diann Bomkamp of St. Louis, Mo., is the 2008-2009
president of the Chicago-based American Dental Hygienists’
Association (ADHA).
Bomkamp has served in numerous positions
within ADHA including as a delegate and alternate delegate, district
VIII trustee, as the chair of the Council on Regulation and Practice,
vice president and most recently, as the president-elect. She also
served on the Future of Dental Hygiene Licensure/Regulation Subcommittee
as well as a number of other positions.
Bomkamp earned her Bachelor of Science Degree
from Marquette University, in Milwaukee, Wis., as well as a Community
Dental Health Certificate from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College
in Green Bay. She has practiced clinical dental hygiene over 38
years and has previously worked as an instructor and clinical coordinator
at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park. She also has been
a dental hygiene examiner for the Central Regional Dental Testing
Service (CRDTS) since 1990 and served the Missouri Department of
Health and Senior Services' Oral Health Program as an Oral Health
Program Consultant.
Her dedication to the dental hygiene profession
has earned her a number of awards and recognitions including the
ADHA/Warner Lambert Excellence in Dental Hygiene Award in 1992,
the Marquette University Outstanding Dental Hygiene Alumna awards
in 1993, the ADHA Alfred C. Fones Award in 2001, as well as seven
Missouri Dental Hygienists’ Association awards.
Recently Bomkamp has participated on the
Dental Hygiene Advisory Board at St. Louis Community College; St
Louis "Give Kids A Smile" Education Chairperson; UMKC
Dental Workforce Project; St. Louis Regional Health Commission's
Dental services Task Force; American Association of Public Health
Dentistry's Oral Health Policy Committee; Missouri Coalition for
Oral Health Access; the Gateway American Diabetes Association Board;
and the Creve Coeur Ethics Commission.
In both 2002 and 2004 Bomkamp was a candidate
for state representative in the Missouri 82nd district.
