2011 ADHA Institute for Oral Health/NCOHF
Toothfairy Grant Application

In July 2008, the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) and National Children’s Oral Health Foundation (NCOHF) embarked on a partnership that formed the ADHA Toothfairy Campaign.  Through this partnership, the ADHA Institute for Oral Health (IOH) is providing a unique opportunity for accredited dental hygiene programs to become members of the NCOHF Affiliate Network, a growing network of not-for-profit oral healthcare facilities dedicated to serving children from our country’s most vunerable populations. The NCOHF Affiliate Network currently incudes university dental schools, dental hygiene programs, comprehensive health centers, stand-alone dental clinics, mobile/portable programs, hospital dental clinics, school-based programs, and programs that provide education, preventative and referral resources to a dental home.

This year, through the ADHA Institute/NCOHF Toothfairy Grant, one dental hygiene program will be selected and provided the opportunity to actively participate in addressing pediatric dental disease through preventive therapy and an educational approach.

In the fall. the ADHA Institute will begin accepting proposals for participation in this exciting opportunity! Through this one-of-a-kind program, one dental hygiene program will receive complete funding from the Institute for Oral Health to participate as a member of the Affiliate Network. As a member of the NCOHF Affiliate network the dental hygiene program will receive:

  • Toothfairy Island® – an interactive original character based curriculum that includes puzzles, games, puppets, charts and other things that help children have fun while learning about good oral health (available in English or Spanish)
  • Donated dental equipment and supplies
  • The opportunity to receive additional financial grants
  • The Guide, a policies and procedures manual of best practices to share with your preceptor sites
  • Fundraising templates and initiatives – Funds raised in a specific community will go directly to an NCOHF Affiliate in that community for direct services to children.
  • and more

All applications should be postmarked or received in the ADHA Central Office on or before December 31, 2010 in order to be considered.  All applications will be reviewed by the ADHA Institute for Oral Health Board of Directors. Eligibility is limited to accredited dental hygiene programs.
