Theresa Anselmo, MPH, BSDH, RDH, is 1991 graduate from the University of Colorado School of Dentistry with a Bachelor's of Science in Dental Hygiene. Theresa is currently the Oral Health Program Manager for the San Luis Obispo County, California Public Health Department. Prior to entering the field of public health in 2002, as the Oral Health Program Manager then Director for the Oral Health Unit at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Theresa practiced as a clinical dental hygienist in general and periodontal specialty practices. Theresa received her Masters in Public Health from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University in Atlanta, GA.

Kathryn Bell, RDH, MS, graduated with a BS degree in Dental Hygiene and a MS degree in Dental Hygiene Education from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. She is an Assistant Professor of Dental Hygiene at Pacific University, where she teaches dental science, periodontics, and pain management. Kathryn is a member of Sigma Phi Alpha, the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, and the American Dental Education Association. In 2010, she received the ADHA/Sigma Phi Alpha Journalism award for her manuscript “Incorporating Oral-Systemic Evidence into Patient Care: Practice Behaviors and Barriers of North Carolina Dental Hygienists”, which was published in the Journal of Dental Hygiene.

Denise Bowen, RDH, MS, is a Professor Emeritus Dental Hygiene at Idaho State University. She co-authored Research Methods for Oral Health Professionals and has made contributions to several highly regarded texts: Dental Hygiene Theory and Practice, Comprehensive Review of Dental Hygiene, and Concepts in Nonsurgical Periodontal Therapy. Professor Bowen is widely known through her numerous published articles and her continuing education programs related to nonsurgical periodontal therapy, preventive oral self-care, research methodology, and dental hygiene education.

Kim Krust Bray, BSDH, MS, is currently a Professor and Director for the Division of Dental Hygiene at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. She holds a Master of Science in Dental Hygiene Education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (1988), a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of Missouri-Kansas City(1986) and an Associate in Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from Sinclair Community College (1985). Tracey Brookshire, RDH, BSDH, has been a dental hygienist for 19 years. In addition to working part-time in private practice and teaching at her alma mater Parkland College in Champaign, Ill., she is also a volunteer for the Illinois Medical Emergency Response Team (IMERT). Brookshire has been involved in disaster response with IMERT since 2006, but she got her first experience with disaster relief after one of the instructors at Parkland coordinated a service-learning trip to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Louis G. DePaola, DDS, MS, is a Professor, Department of Oncology & Diagnostic Sciences, Dental School, University of Maryland, Baltimore. He received his DDS in 1975, completed a Master’s Degree in Oral Biology, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine and the American College of Dentists; and has a Certificate in Prosthodontics. Dr. DePaola currently serves as the Chairman of the Clinical Operations Board and is Executive Director of Biosafety and Continuous Quality Improvement at the Dental School. He is the Director for dental training for the PA-Mid-Atlantic AIDS Education and Training Center and served as a member of the ADA Council of Scientific Affairs from 2002-2005. Well known on the lecture circuit, he has presented at most major national meetings as well as numerous international organizations. Active in research, he has authored and co-authored of over 130 journal articles, book chapters, and abstracts and serves as a consultant to the American Dental Association and numerous other professional groups and private industry. Over the past 20 years, he has been awarded over 75 research and service grants, many in the field of antiplaque chemotherapeutic agents, HIV/AIDS, management of medically compromised dental patients, rapid salivary diagnostic testing, dental unit waterlines and infection control.

Ann Eshenaur Spolarich, RDH, PhD, is an internationally recognized author and speaker on pharmacology and the care of medically complex patients. Christine Farrell, RDH, BSDH, MPA, has been with the MDCH for over 23 years. She was appointed the Oral Health Director in June, 2010 and previously worked in the Medicaid policy area of MDCH. Jacque Freudenthal, RDH, MHE, is the Associate Professor in Dental Hygiene at Idaho State University, teaches advanced clinical dental hygiene, local anesthesia, and restorative expanded functions. Jacque is President of the Portneuf Valley Dental Hygiene Society of IDHA. Jacquelyn Fried, RDH, MS, was awarded her Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and her Certificate in Dental Hygiene from the Ohio State University and received her Master of Science in Dental Hygiene from Old Dominion University. Ms. Fried, who has been in dental hygiene education for over thirty years is Associate Professor and Director of the Division of Dental Hygiene at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. Although most well-known for her pioneering research and publishing regarding the dental hygienist’s role in tobacco cessation and prevention, Jacquelyn continues to examine the social-behavioral risk factors associated with head and neck cancers, such as HPV.

Renee Graham, RDH, MEd, is the Southeast Clinical Educator for DENTSPLY Professional. Mary Jacks, RDH, MS, Mary is an Associate Professor in the Dental Hygiene Department at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Shelby L. Kahl, RDH, PC, owns and operates an integrative dental hygiene practice on the Front Range of Northern Colorado. Her comprehensive dental hygiene practice includes saliva testing and Perioscope-aided periodontal therapy. Her contributions to the profession revolve around the conceptual idea of oral health and its integral role in the diagnostics of systemic health. Shelby believes the future of oral care lies in the culmination of dentistry and medicine. She is actively involved in several research projects, including field work in dental sealants and the relationship with endocrinology and periodontal disease. Most recently released, is the supportive evidence for the co- location of dental hygienists within pediatric medical practices. Cindy Kleiman, RDH, BS, was adjunct faculty at Phoenix College for 19 years, instructing dental hygiene students on care of medically complex patients in alternative settings and teaching “Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office”. Lynn Terracciano-Mortilla, RDH, has spent two decades working in dentistry. She is a graduate of the dental hygiene program at the State University of New York at Farmingdale. She has been involved with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists for 17 years and is the Executive Director of their auxiliary section, the ADIA (Association of Dental Implant Auxiliaries).
